5 years in March 2017, moving to Dubai december. Which grade?

Hello.

I’m moving with my family to Dubai this December inshallah.

I have a daughter born March 2012 (4 years and half now). I’m very confused by the fact that lot of schools  in Dubai starts at 4 or even 3 years old. My daughter has never been into a kindergarten here in my country (school starts at 6, preschool at 5), so now I don’t know in which grade she will enrol, FS1 or FS2, and can children enrol into FS2 directly without passing by FS1. Thank you.

Under the UK curriculum, your daughter would be in FS2; in the international curricula (12 grade system), she would be in KG1.  At her age, the year group/age will determine which class she enters and not her previous education.  It is quite possible to start school in FS2 and indeed KG2 without having attended previously – it is just not the norm here any more.  Most children do enter school at age 3 or 4 years in line with the curricula in the countries from which they originate.  Good Luck with the move.
