Admission to Gr2, 2015/16, from Mumbai

Hi, I am planning to get resident visas for my wife and my kid  by March 2015.

It seems it is already late applying to schools for my son.

I am looking for CBSE or ICSE curriculum. [1] Are there any admission vacancies available.

[2] Though I have don’t have the resident visa from my kid as yet, can I still apply.

[3] He has turned 6 yrs last Nov (DOB:04/11/2008) studying in 1st Grade ICSE curriculum in Mumbai.

As per the new changes in admission age, will he get into Grade2 or will have to try Grade1 only.

Thanks.

Dear Amit, Thanks for your questions. I can’t advise as to whether there are places available; you would need to contact the individual schools for this, but you do need to do so quickly as most will have opened their application processes at the end of last year.

You don’t mention whether you are in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but if you check the Whichschooladvisor.com site:http://whichschooladvisor.com/reviews/dubai-primary/, http://whichschooladvisor.com/reviews/abu-dhabi-primary/, you will be able to find details of the Indian Curriculum schools. In Dubai, I believe that Credence School and Dehli Private Academy may have places as they are both relatively new schools, but please get in contact with them to confirm this.

You do not need the residence visa to be in place to apply, but it will need to have been processed in order for your son to start school. Since your son is already studying in school in India, and you will need to obtain a Transfer certificate from your son’s current school/Education Board, provided this shows that he has completed grade 1 and is being promoted to grade 2, the Admissions age change should not apply – this is really aimed at KG1 children.
