switching from sabis to cbse – completed kg2 in choueifat uaq – june 2018, cbse school in ajman is saying repeat sameclass as age is short(28-11-2012), says ministry approval is an issue. but wouldn’t he be already registered with ministry. other 2  cbse schools in ajman are ready to give admissions but we prefer 1st one

Hi Sajeev,

Thanks for your question.  The cut off date for Indian curriculum schools in 31st July,  and in order to join Grade 1, your son would need to be 6 years old by this date – which he will not be.   His registration with the Ministry just confirms the current school grade and his date of birth, but will not influence the grade he may enter in the CBSE school.

I assume that the other schools will endeavour to obtain approval based on the Transfer Certificate being issued by SABIS – this is not usually sufficient, as age takes precedence for children up to Grade 2.   I would advise you to double check with the other schools as to why they believe they can obtain Ministry approval and use this information with your first choice school to see if it is possible for them to apply on the same basis.
