FS1 admission

My child is 2.5 years old now, I want to get her admitted in FS 1 in sep 2017. She will be 3+ at that time. I want british curriculum and tell me names of the schools having fs1 within Sharjah or in nearer Dubai. or is it better to get admission in school fs1 or in any of the Nurseries? I hope you get my point

HI Zamzam,

You will need to check with the individual schools as to whether your daughter is old enough for FS1 as you do not mention her age.  Schools who accept children aged 3+ on 31st August are mostly Dubai-based.  In general in the other Emirates, children need to turn 4 by 31st December – so meaning 3 years and 8 months on 31st August.  You can find details of all UK curriculum schools in Sharjah and Dubai on the Whichschooladvisor website by searching UK curriculum under the Schools tab.

Whether you choose a school or nursery is very much a personal decision.  There has been a trend in recent years for children to start in FS1 because this assures a place in FS2 and where there is a lack of places, this is probably still a wise decision.  With the number of new schools that have opened in the past two-three years, this is less of a challenge in Dubai, but still difficult in Sharjah.  You may also feel that your daughter would be happier in a nursery environment where she is likely to be in a smaller environment with smaller classes.  We would strongly advise you to visit the schools that are of interest, together with nurseries, to decide which is likely to suit you and your daughter best.
