The new SEND policies will apply to all schools, and they will be expected to put in place adequate support and provision.  However, ultimately, each school will need to see if they can recruit and train the key staff to support children with SEND.  In reality, there are likely to be children who will still not be supported in mainstream, because their needs cannot be met by the staff.  The KHDA already inspect and comment on SEND provision in Dubai’s schools and will definitely have place more focus on this requirement.  Many of the newer schools opening are very active in providing support for children with SEND requirements.
