Who regulates bus fees?

Now that I’m done reading/researching and deciding about which school to go, next problem is the bus fees. Aside from me,  does anyone else think that they charge too much? Who regulates the fees?

For example:

STS is charging 8,500 (2 way) from Silicon Oasis to Gardens  6,100 (1 way)

9,100 from Meydan Street for 2way, no offer for 1 way so you are forced to pay 2 way.

So it’s either we drive our kids to school or pay whatever amount they ask?

Just wondering if the school or parents or together can do something to petition for a more reasonable price.

HI Tala,

As far as I have been able to establish, there is no regulation of the school fares as such. Whilst the RTA in Dubai is responsible for all safety aspects of school transportation, the bus companies appear to be free to set their own charges. Historically school transport was covered within the school fees, but when the Regulator stepped in to impose control on school fee increases, the bus companies that were run directly by the schools in the past, were largely outsourced to third party providers, so the control is no longer applicable.
