Transfer to British School in Sharjah

Hi, we are my son is in year 4 (British curriculum) in Doha and his date of birth is 25th of January 2008. I was informed by a school that he can only transfer to year 4 and not year 5 in September 2017. Does anyone know whether this would be the same for any British school in Sharjah?

Thanks

Dear Amaher,

The transfer should be bound by the Transfer Certificate that will be provided by your son’s current school.  Since he will have completed year 4 and will have a transfer certificate to attest to this, this should be the deciding factor.  The other factor is that many Sharjah schools follow the international grading criteria which means that they offer 12 grades as opposed to 13 years.  Essentially in this situation, grade 4 would be the equivalent to year 5 – I would suggest that you reconfirm with the school if this is the case.  Please refer to the following link which shows the requirements at one established Sharjah School.  http://www.gemswestminsterschool-sharjah.com/admissions/admissions-process/.
