KG1 Admission Age for Academic Year 2015-2016

Hello Sir, my son will be 4 years as on 05th August 2015. I would like to seek indian curriculum school admission for him in Dubai.  Kindly advise if he is eligible for KG1 admission in Dubai schools for the academic year 2015-2016. Is there any exception allowed as he just falls short of 5 days from the newly declared KHDA age criteria. Also would like to know the age limitation followed in other emirates like Sharjah & Ajman. Thanks, Murali

Dear Murali, you will need to contact the schools in which you are interested directly to confirm the information. We have been told by some schools that the KHDA is permitting an allowance of approximately 1 month, but this has not been officially confirmed. Our understanding is that there is less flexibility in Sharjah and Ajman, but again, we would advise you to contact the schools directly for confirmation in this regard.

NOTE: Sharjah is not covered by the KHDA; it is Sharjah Education Zone that applies the Ministry of Education rules. It is usual for a short period (two weeks) to be accepted, but beyond that, the rules are being applied strictly. Irrespective of the relationship with the school owner, it is the Education Zone with whom the child must be registered and there would have to be very compelling academic reasons for the rules to be varied.
