Admission in KG or FS – Confused
Hi,
I need your advise as i am little bit confused regarding the curriculum and the admission criteria in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Currently i am staying in Abu Dhabi, so can move to Dubai if i get the better choice for her schools and admissions. My daughter is born on 31st Oct 2012 so i have the following questions regarding her admission in 2016,
1. Is she eligible for admission in 2016 considering that she will be 3 years 9 Months (as of 31st July 2016 cutoff) for Indian curriculum and 3 years 10 Months (as of 1st Sept 2016) cut off for UK (O Level) curriculum.
2. Which curriculum is more advisable – Indian or UK, considering that i will move back to India in a future. Do you think a child can cope up with Indian curriculum if we opt for UK now?

Dear Anuj,
Your daughter will not be eligible for the Indian curriculum since she will be not 4 by 31st July. She would be eligible for the UK curriculum in Dubai (in FS1), but you would need to check with the individual schools in this regard, as although most are using the 31st August cut off date, not all are doing so.
Since you plan to return to India and your daughter will follow an Indian curriculum there, my advice would be that you follow the Indian curriculum here if possible. The two are relatively similar in Primary level, but there are significant differences higher up the schools in terms of the curriculum followed. Having said that, the reality is that there are many more UK curriculum than Indian curriculum options and children clearly do adapt .
